Four habits that make the shortcut layer easier
You do not need to memorize everything. These habits make the keyboard model easier to learn and easier to trust.
Learn a small core set first
You do not need every shortcut on day one. Blind Sight, compose, refresh, the folder numbers, and Escape give you a strong starting set.
Think in regions, not just buttons
Arrow keys mostly matter inside the message or attachment list, while Tab moves between controls and actions around the active region.
Escape is your recovery key
If you opened something temporary, Escape is often the fastest way to close it or return to the previous layer.
Use the built-in help when memory drops
F1 or ? opens the shortcut help so you can look up commands from inside the app instead of keeping a separate cheat sheet.
