About BlindBox

Built independently for a more usable inbox.

BlindBox is an accessibility-first email product for blind and visually impaired people. It is independently developed and maintained by a single developer who believes email should feel capable, clear, and dignified for everyone.

Why it exists

Email is too important to be unnecessarily difficult.

Email carries work, healthcare, family, school, banking, and community. When the interface is confusing or accessibility is treated as an afterthought, ordinary tasks take more time and energy than they should.

BlindBox focuses on the details that make a difference every day: dependable keyboard navigation, meaningful screen-reader announcements, audio cues, focused writing tools, and connected mail that stays under your control.

Built in Charleston

Meet the developer behind BlindBox.

Hi, I’m Shaun Cohen. I’m the independent developer behind BlindBox, based in Charleston, South Carolina.

BlindBox is a personal, long-term effort to make everyday email more capable and less exhausting for blind and visually impaired people. I build it, maintain it, and keep learning from the people who use it.

Hands-on product work

I design and build BlindBox across its desktop, mobile, and web experiences—from the small accessibility details in the inbox to the services that keep accounts, billing, and connected providers working.

Close to the feedback

As the person who maintains BlindBox, I read the feedback, investigate the rough edges, and turn the clearest needs into focused improvements. There is no distant handoff between the people using the product and the person building it.

Built for the long term

Independent development means staying responsible for the unglamorous work too: reliability, security, compatibility, support, and the careful maintenance that lets a product earn trust over time.

Support independent accessibility work
